The 48"x24"x16" PVC Panel Reptile Enclosure by Zen Habitats is great for lizards, snakes, tortoises, and other small animals that require a low to high humidity environment. Zen Habitats Reptile Enclosure uses 1” anodized aluminum, bamboo printed PVC panels, front sliding/removable acrylic doors, a galvanized steel screen top, additional top humidity shield to retain humidity, and a 6" substrate shield (to keep loose substrate in the habitat when the door is open). The steel screen top includes screen support bars and wire grommets to give you the flexibility to install your lighting fixtures inside or outside the enclosure.
Why the 48"x24"x16" Zen Habitats Reptile Enclosures?
Large enclosures – 80-gallon equivalent. Many reptiles thrive when given room to run, jump, and climb. 48"x24"x16" reptile enclosures are twice as larger than 40 gallon breeder tanks.
Non-reflective surfaces reduce anxiety. Most reptiles are territorial and do not like their own reflections.
Front-sliding doors minimize stress when approaching your pet. Many reptiles and amphibians have a parietal eye which helps them spot aerial predators. A lot of reptile tanks open from the top - approaching from above can cause stress for your pet.
Bamboo printed composite PVC panels for up to 100% humidity. Allows for a high humidity environment without the disadvantages of glass aquariums.
Humidity Shield helps retain humidity while providing ventilation. Optional 36" sheet of acrylic that lays on top of the screen to help control humidity.
Substrate Shield included. All Zen Habitats come with an optional substrate shield for those who use loose substrate.
I have 3 4 by 2 by 16 enclosures and I love them top one i just got for my 3 leppard geckos and the bottom 2 ive had for a while for my 2 bearded dragons
I live about 2 hours from the closet reptile supply store and they unfortunately didn't have any glass terrariums until next week. I wish I had waited. Nothing about this enclosure is "zen" after spending nearly $400 on an enclosure I'm going to have to completely caulk together to provide any sort of stabilization, I am hoping my guy doesn't fall through the flimsy bottom. Super appreciate the tape.
Added a third enclosure to my snake stack! Converted the bottom 4x2x2 to a humid enclosure with the biobasin, and have the two shorter ones as arid enclosures. So far my ball python, kingsnake, and rosy boa are all loving their homes, and the stack looks amazing with the deluxe spacers hiding all the lights and cords. Since my ceiling wasn't tall enough for an additional spacer on the bottom, my husband designed little 3-d printed feet to give the bottom enclosure enough space to allow the UTH cord to come through, and it works wonderfully (would be a great add-on idea for Zen Habitats). Also modified the bottom enclosure slightly to install a radiant heat panel so I can keep the perfect ambient temperature in addition to the hot-spot UTH for my BP. I still need to attach the biobasin properly, but so far it's pretty great - I can pour water directly into it to keep long-lasting humidity in the substrate without worrying about leaks (much better than misting, which dissipates immediately, even with the humidity top guard). Great setup, and looks amazing!

I now own four of these.Three house ball pythons and one houses an ornery corn snake. I couldn’t ask for better homes for my snakes. They’re roomy, easy to clean, and hold humidity super well. We love our Zens!
I absolutely love this enclosure. It's easy to get into and it's perfect for the price and space that you get. I got this for my leopard gecko, Oliver, and he seems to love it too. I would highly recommend over a glass tank! I ended up using colored decal paper on the extra piece given so my cats couldn't see him when he's roaming around the enclosure. Don't hesitate, just buy this! I've already talked my mom in to purchasing a bigger one for my nieces bearded dragon.
Love our tank! But gave 4 stars because the plexi doors scratch so easily. We have scratched up doors from our uros. They constantly scratch the doors, even w so many climbing areas. Wish you supplied 1/4 in glass doors instead.
Very nice. Works beautifully, but screen top was cut wrong and the top doesn’t fully close. All and all it’s a very good product
Overall it’s a dope enclosure. Definitely make sure you use a rubber mallet and the silicone provided. Me personally I had to take a trip to Home Depot for more silicone. Had to make sure this tank was 100% secure, some of the sides were loose… Indonesian blue tongue skink setup
Ez setup and holds humidity well for my BTS.
It’s very nice but one corner will not come together properly.
We absolutely love this enclosure for our leopard gecko and she couldn't be happier with all this space to roam! The enclosure is high quality, fits together nicely, and looks awesome.
We love it! So much more room and looks great. Thank you!
I definitely recommend this if you want to minimize your reptiles stress and allow them to thrive! My beardie loves it! She was feeling super stressed out in the 75 glass so I got the zen habitat and she absolutely loves it!
I saw some people talk badly about this product, but I’m my opinion its pretty good. Assembly went fine, but I’m not an idiot so I didn’t have to disconnect any of the connections because I installed them wrong. The paper on the plexiglass came off fine if you take your time and is needed to prevent them from getting scratched. The only complaint I have would be the wiring hole plug opening is awfully big where some reptiles could get out. But I just drilled the smallest hole necessary in the hard plastic delete plug and ran wires though that so that solves the problem, and that’s not their fault, making a product that might need a bit of tinkering is easier then 10000 different depending on specific animal going in it. I have two currently and will be ordering a third once back in stock
Top right corner of my enclosure is lose. The plastic fingers dont fit snug into the metal tubs. I guess it will be fine in the long run, but a 350 dollar tank shouldn't have this issue. So far two out of three zenhabitats products i've bought came damaged. Kinda annoyed
I am very impressed with this enclosure. I was exactly what I was looking for. It wasn't that hard to put together even though we had a little mishap. A post and connector got messed up and the company was fantastic in sending us out immediately a replacement piece. I am not done fixing it up, but this is what it looks like now.
Where I work at a reptile store also has several of their animals setup in the Zen enclosures and they look super nice.
Would highly recommend.
The final product is ok, not worth $385!
The packing material was a serious problem. What a stupid idea! Because of this alone, I will never buy your products again or recommend them to friends. HOURS of peeling paper from the parts ruined my experience.
Love my Zen Habitats!! They are quality made, easy to put together and make perfect habitats. The upper suite houses our beardie, Rosie, and the lower suite houses our gecko, Butterbean. Happy campers
Took a bit but worth the wait
My kingsnake loves it!
My baby red tail loves the enclosure, I am a little disappointed that I haven't been able to get the humidity over 40% even with my fogger turned all the way up.
I bought this as a part of a full setup for a few of my smaller reptiles. It was a little disappointing that there are no tank splitters, as my reptiles are terrestrial and can't be co-housed. On a budget (both financial and space-wise), that makes getting separate large tanks for each reptile problematic. Once the enclosure arrived and I set it up, it became clear why that feature would be difficult to manufacture sustainably with the design of the product. However, because of the simplicity of the overall design, I was able to build my own splitter that worked great in this enclosure and successfully solved my own issue. Other than that, the setup was easy and intuitive once I got a handle on it. It looks great in my space and my reptiles love it.
I understand shipping delays because of COVID-19; however, the back order arrived even later than predicted with lots of surface damage to the panels and even dents in the metal bars. I'm not happy with the condition, but I stacked everything together with our other habitat, and the finished product looks good. I still need to get some goo-be-gone for the residue left from all the stickers. The good news is that my tortoises absolutely love their space! I can't wait to add more animal friends, and they will be super easy to stack together in this beautiful and organized furniture piece.
We loved it for our bearded dragon. It was even easier than expected to build. Def would recomend.
Fairly easy to put together, everything arrived in one piece. Definitely needed the video to assemble. The instructions on putting on the metal door guards with the glue was not on the video but messaging customer service helped me figure out what to do and provided a link. My snake loves the extra room, hasn't escaped yet!
I got my Zen when we got our Blood Python. Both he and we love it. It holds humidity great and he seems very happy. We will be getting Zen for all our reptiles
Looks great, no issues, didn't take long to put together.
Such good service! My enclosure came with a scratched door and they sent me a new one right away! You can really tell this brand cares about the quality of our reptiles homes. I will never not buy from these guys!
I love these cages! This is the perfect height for my Hedgehog and fits the wheel perfectly! Easy to build and look amazing!
Not fun to build but once it’s done it’s beautiful! Buy a rubber mallet beforehand it helps alot
Nice tank for the price
The wait for receiving my product was the only issue that I had. As well, wish it came with paper instructions instead of just the in structural step by step set up for the 4x2x2 enclosure. Otherwise, I love my Zen Habitats enclosure.
Love these tanks. Both of my animals have gotten so much calmer and happier since I got them and they really are really well put together tanks. Will buy from these guys for all of my animals for sure!
Pretty easy to put together a rubber mallet is a necessity. It’s a great size for my Brazilian Rainbow boa. The doors were a very tight fit I really had to bend them a bit to get them in.
Putting it together was a bit of a trip, but once assembled, it looks lovely, and the reptile loves it!
Perfect tank for my northern blue tongue skink!
She loves her new tank, and I love how accessible and roomy it is! :)
This is a very nice looking habitat. Not too bad to put together. Will work very well for my cherry head tortoise. The only problem I had with it is that there was a crack in the plexiglass of one of the doors where the hole was drilled for the knob.
My beardie loves her new enclosure! Will purchase again
It is eye appealing and was easy for my students to put together. We had some pieces that were not cut correctly, but customer service took care of that and replacement pieces were sent. I thought with the humidity shield, the humidity would stay at a decent level, it does not. The humidity is too low for our ball pythons. Our old glass enclosures with a plexiglass shield worked much better in keeping humidity at an apprpriate level.
I got one for my Blood Python and he absolutely loves it. And of course I love it too. all my reptiles will be in Zen Habitats from now on. It does wonders for the heat and humidity needed. Easy to assemble and an amazing price for such an awesome enclosure.
Cage is perfect for a BTS!
I was beyond excited to get these new enclosures for my snakes. The shipping was fast and easy but everything since then has been a nightmare. I got 4 cages and a stand, and EVERY SINGLE board came damaged in some way or another. The packaging was poor for the amount of money spent. Zen Habitats was quick to replace any items but since all my panels were chipped or damaged it didn’t quite make sense to wait another 3 weeks.
Assembly was extremely difficult, and the online video and written instructions help none. These parts are tension fit for if you do it wrong, you're screwed. Final product is decent, but it feels very wobbly and not structurally sound.
Door locks arent included, mat is not included, and stackers not included. The acrylic is super reflective, which I was under the impression it would not be, and the substrate shield is stuck on with double sided tape. I would love this product if it was $100 cheaper
Love my new Zen enclosure and so does my blue tongue skink. It was easy to set up and it looks fantastic! The shipping boxes we damaged in transit, but there fortunately there was only miniscule damage to the enclosure itself. Customer Service was willing to replace if needed, but the damage isn't structural or noticeable so I opted to keep the one we got.
awesome enclosure, super spacious, easy to build. super cool if you purchase the stand as well.
can't wait to add extensions as my boa grows.
Habitat is great! Very spacious and perfect for my beardy! The only thing I don’t like about it is that the sliding doors scratch very easy so if your bearded dragon glass surfs often you might want to reconsider this purchase!
Easy set-up and great customer service (promptly replaced a part that was badly damaged in shipping). Final product looks nice.
Mr Squishy is 100% happy with his new home. The size is perfect for him to move around and his stress has gone down drastically since changing to this enclosure.
These enclosures were an absolute nightmare to assemble. There was no instructions in the package so you’re forced to watch a video or read poorly written internet instructions. The parts don’t easily come apart so you only have one chance to get it right!
The material used and the packing quality leaves much to be desired. 75% of the pieces I received were chipped because of the thin packaging material.
Overall they are decent enclosures once assembled but the price isn’t worth it. I would at least expect them to include the substrate lining.
I contacted support and they helped me to get new replacement pieces.
Best enclosure for the money.
i love the enclosures it is great for a skink i highly recomend it the 4 by 2 by 2 is not that strudy you will need a stand other than that its great they have great coustoumer service.sorry for my spelling
First and foremost, I give the Zen Habitat's team 5 stars. Their customer service is wonderful. It's honestly the reason I chose to do business with the company for my enclosure needs.
Now, onto the review. There are a couple design aspects of the enclosure that keep it from getting a perfect score. I don't like the the screen is embedded into the enclosure, especially with the 16 inch high model. With the substrate shield installed, and the sliding doors, cleaning and maintenance can be a chore because of the restricted access. I would love if the screen simply rested on top. It's more than sturdy enough. That being said, if you plan on using loose substrate, I would advise getting the 2 foot high model (which I ended up doing). The acrylic doors are also highly susceptible to scratches, even when just brushing up against each other slightly.
I'm currently using the 16 inch high model for my two leopard geckos. I used a sturdy piece of colored cardboard to partition the enclosure. It looks nice and has plenty of room for all my leos' accessories and decor.
Frankie the Dumeril’s Boa had outgrown her old glass terrarium at age 10, so we pulled the trigger on a new Zen Habitats setup. Honestly, everything from ordering to customer service has been fantastic and Frankie has really stretched out in her new home and seems to love it . Assembly is super simple, just watch the video once through to get the hang of it before doing anything, and then watch and pause at each step once you actually start to assemble and you will be good-to-go. The Zen Habitats terrarium should last forever and it is extremely light when compared to glass.
Gave it on 12/30/2020 as a Christmas gift and this is what we find. Torn/broken corner and now having trouble getting someone to replace the piece
My Russian tortoise didn’t have the biggest or best terrarium before this. But this new one is huge. He’s staying at his very own 5 star Hilton. He seems much happier. And this will be his retirement home, as he won’t grow much bigger. It’s very functional and looks great.
Definitely feel like these should come with instructions. They're not overly complicated but it would help. This one piece of metal was the only one not cut at an angle. I tried to figure out if there was a reason for this but there was literally no place for it to make sense. I had to cut it myself to make the cage work. The connector pieces vary in size. But the metal doesn't seem to so I'm not sure which way they should technically fit. Again, wish there were directions to confirm one way or another. That's a bit frustrating given the price but otherwise turned out well.
It was easy to build and set up! Very lightweight for the size!
I initially wrote a review already about this Zen Habitat but the photo I chose wasn’t the best and it still doesn’t do it justice. A video could do it justice.
I can still tell anyone that I recommend the Zen Habitats for Ball Pythons (That’s what I have). And as others have stated, can be used for Skinks, tortoises, Bearded Dragons and more. But for me it’s perfect for my female Ball Python. She is a sub-adult. Still growing and I’m happy because she has plenty of room to stretch and thrive in an enriching environment with big chunky branches, logs, rocks, and large water bowl to drink and soak and still not cluttered. The height is 16inches which is a perfect habitat for Ball Pythons because they don’t require much height but it’s enough height that they still have the freedom to climb on low branches and they DO climb around. They don’t require it but you put low thick branches in there and they will put them to use fast! They seem to enjoy it very much, so if you can, please put a branch or two for the snake’s sake.
Finally, for a Female Ball Python and most definitely for males, this Zen Habitat will be
quintessential (long word for perfect) for the duration of their life! So once you get this you won’t need to worry about upgrading. It’s so easy to assemble with a rubber mallet and in terms of the quality, the price and the overall benefit for you and your reptile, it’s the best in the market in my opinion.
I will continue to tell reptile keepers about ZenHabitats so they can provide the best for their reptiles. Not the minimum. Good luck everyone and continue to inspire one another with God’s amazing creatures!
Absolutely a must have for any reptile! Our BTS is so much more active and happy. Easy to put together. It is very light and durable. Just bought another one with a spacer for my firefly ball python. I don’t generally write reviews but I felt I had to after seeing just how much more active my skink was along with how great it looks!
Everything was an ease to set up. No issues with anything. I bought this for my female Ball Python who is getting chunkier and longer now and I wanted to kind of spoil her and give her a Habitat she can thrive in and enjoy. She seems to be doing just that. She has always been explorative but now she seems to explore alot more. It's aesthetically pleasing for me to look into her natural looking habitat. Feels like I'm looking at a Ball Python in the wild. The Zen Habitats enclosure is perfect for Ball Pythons. At least the sub-adults and up for the remainder of their life. I've gotten manu compliments on it, but most importantly seeing my girl thrive is what makes me happy. Thank you Zen Habitats for what you're doing.
High quality and great shipping! My daughter’s bearded dragon loves it
We love our Zen...and so does our skink!
This is the absolute best reptile cage and cabinet! My Russian tortoise friends are happy, clean, and even more social now that we've moved their beautiful habitat into the main room of the house. The set up instructions (written and video) need an update, but overall, the construction was easy and a fun experience. And now because my reptile care is so easy and accessible, I plan to purchase another 4x2 and cabinet spacer in the near future. ALL the animal friends have a space!
Best enclosure for the money. Easy assembly a definite plus. I love the aesthetics of this tank. Gorgeous!
Very nice enclosure. The video on how to assemble it is great. If you follow it step-by-step, assembly will be a breeze. If you jump ahead without really paying attention, like me, it's possible to undo your mistakes and put back together correctly, so no worries. I think this provide a comfortable home for my Russian tortoise for many years.
Beautiful tank for skink
Beautiful enclosure. Great size for my ball python. Front sliding doors allow much easier access for cleaning.
My enclosure makes my beardie king of the hill. ..
Very spacious and sturdy.
Loved these enclosures so much I bout two more
Vegeta loves it.
This enclosure is absolutely perfect for ball pythons! The humidity is perfect and it’s so spacious. My ball python has been more active than ever and it looks so beautiful.
Bought this after much research for our young red foot tortoise. It holds heat and humidity great. Looks beautiful in our living room. Hoping an extension kit for this size is in the works
We love the tank. And our boa is slowly getting used to it. At first, she stayed in the corner in her cave, but now she's exploring more. We are still having trouble with keeping it humid. The front doors are great for cleaning, adding leaf litter and putting in fresh water. It was challenging for us to put the tank together (we got it before the new video instructions came out). I'd definitely recommend it. Thank you!
Fantastic setup, my dumerils boa loves the space it providers her, easy assembly great customer service
I love this enclosure. Perfect for my Northern Blue Tongue Skink, Elmore. This enclosure gives him double the square footage than the low wide Exo Terras, which was much needed. The substrate shield also allows Elmore to burrow to his hearts content. The sliding doors are easy to work with while giving an unobstructed view of the terrarium. Elmore seems to feel safer and therefore is seen out more often because there are more opaque sides.
Both of my box turtles love this enclosure!
Looks very nice and once you get it set up is very easy to operate
This enclosure was the perfect upgrade for my corn snake! He has so much more space and enrichment now. It is stacked with my other Zen Habitats and looks so good!
The habitat is amazing and my tortoise loves it, only problem was actually building it, some pieces didint work with me as much as others did, definitely needed a rubber mallet.
New home for my Eastern Blue Tongue Skink (Tiliqua scincoides scincoides) with the old grow out box on top. 48x24x16 enclosure on top of 48x24x24 Cabinet Stand. Plenty of room for my skink to finish growing and live in forever, and plenty of room to change things up later. I love the sturdy bars on the top to hang the UV-B lamp in the enclosure.
I ordered 48×24×16 inch tank. Love it. Pros - it is gorgeous, has full sturdy screen on top and large doors for access, was easy to assemble, came well packaged, lightweight and the price is great. Cons - because of the size, the bottom panel needs extra support in the middle, it tends to sag a little without it; written assembly instructions were impossible to follow until we found the assembly video on the site; substrate shield position is flimsy and does not stay in place.
Jiren absolutely loves his tank and I do too! It's a great design plus has a nice sleek look. I'll be getting the deluxe stacking spacer for it very soon too. No question well worth the wait for this perfect enclosure!
Love the terrarium!! Easy to assemble, great quality and our Beardie is very happy!!! Took awhile to get it but I guess it’s because of COVID. However, it was definitely worth the wait!!
My Leo absolutely loves her ZenHabitat enclosure. She has a 48x24x16. Quality and customer service are top notch. So much so, I am thinking about purchasing a second and stacking it for another leopard gecko. Simply the best!
Very easy to put together. Our snake is very happy! She loves her new forever home. Thanks!
I love everything about this except the assembly video. It is a bit confusing because when it is being assembled on the video he doesn’t show close up what’s he’s doing.
The video was helpful when putting together. My Ball Python loves having all the room to roam and stretch out. The enclosure is well made and looks awesome! Might buy another for our tarantula.
This enclosure is perfect for my box turtle. He's enjoying the added space and opaque walls. The enclosure is large enough that he can have a cooler side with his shelter and a warmer, brighter side for sunning himself.
I just happened upon Zen Habitats while searching for reptile enclosures. When I viewed their products I was in total awe! I knew for several months that I was going to have to upgrade my tortis enclosure from a clear plastic tote but wasn't able to find another clear tote that was larger than what I already had. You can't imagine how excited I was to find something larger, much more stylish, and I didn't have to cut out and screw in. Whenever I show my friends their response is always, "WOW, that is nice!" My tortis love it and so do I.
The only "con" thing I can say is that I wish the top plexiglass came in smaller pieces so I would be able to "customize" where I put the heater and lighting but other than that this is an awesome product. Like me, you won't be disappointed.
