This 4'x2'x2' Zen Habitats Reptile Enclosure with PVC Panels are great for lizards, snakes, turtles, and other small animals that require a high humidity environment.  Zen Habitats Reptile Enclosure uses 1” anodized aluminum, bamboo printed PVC panels, front sliding/removable acrylic doors, a galvanized steel screen top, additional top humidity shield to retain humidity, and a 6" substrate shield (to keep loose substrate in the habitat when the door is open).  The steel screen top includes screen support bars and wire grommets to give you the flexibility to install your lighting fixtures inside or outside the enclosure.

Why the 4’x2’x2’ Zen Habitats Reptile Enclosures?

Large enclosures – 120-gallon equivalent.  Many reptiles thrive when given room to run, jump, and climb.  4’x2’x2’ reptile enclosures are 3 times larger than 40 gallon breeder tanks.

Non-reflective surfaces reduce anxiety.  Most reptiles are territorial and do not like their own reflections.

Front-sliding doors minimize stress when approaching your pet.  Many reptiles and amphibians have a parietal eye which helps them spot aerial predators.  A lot of reptile tanks open from the top - approaching from above can cause stress for your pet.

Bamboo printed composite PVC panels for up to 100% humidity.  Allows for a high humidity environment without the disadvantages of glass aquariums.

Humidity Shield helps retain humidity while providing venilation.

Substrate Shield included.  All Zen Habitats now come with an optional substrate shield for those who use loose substrate.

Lightweight – Only 46 lbs. fully assembled.

Easy to assemble – No tools required, but a rubber mallet sometimes helps.

Ideal for:

  • Geckos
  • Ball Pythons
  • Boa Constrictors
  • Skinks
  • Turtles
  • Frogs and amphibians
  • Many other lizards, snakes and turtles that thrive in high humidity environments.

Ask a Question
  • Hello I am very interested in your enclosures. My bearded dragon is outgrowing her 40 gallon tank. Are the humidity levels better in the PVC panels or the Bamboo panels for bearded dragons? I am interested in your cabinet but am hoping to get her set up before May. Are shelves included with the cabinet? I saw your product on Amazon but think I would rather get it from you so I can get help if needed. Thank you Lynn Hahn

The humidity levels are not impacted by the wood vs PVC panels, the difference is if you need high humidity PVC is a better option.  As for the cabinet there are no shelves inside, there is 8 cubic feet of space toeet you needs (you could easily add a shelf if needed).

  • How deep is the substrate shield? Is this water tight to allow a drainage layer or should I use silicone to seal once the substrate shield is in place?

The substrate shield is 6" tall.  The panels are water proof but not water tight at the seems.  We have had some customers silicone the edges but I prefer to use a plastic liner for bio-active substrate.

  • Can we order if we are from France ?

Sorry, we wish we could ship to France but at this point we are US only.

  • Hello, for the 4'X2'X2' ZEN HABITATS REPTILE ENCLOSURES WITH PVC PANELS, is the substrate shield strong enough for a bio active setup? Is the rest of the terrarium compatible with that setup as well?

Absolutely, there is a photo on the product page that shows a bio-active setup.

  • Hello, I just bought this tank, and it is very unsteady.. and the screen lid will not go all the way down. I was wondering what the red tape , or red thing was?

Hi.  Is the screen in the frame or sitting on top of the enclosure.  The tape is for the substrate shield if you choose to install it.   Can you send me a photo of your setup and screen to

  • Dose the 4 by 2 by 2ft tank come with a mat?

Hi the Zen Mat is a separate purchase.

  • If I order soon when would it ship?

When orders are placed you should receive the items within 3-5 business days.

  • Is this locked up good enough for A five-year-old ball python not to get out? Is it safe to put a light on the screen top? Does it open on the top as well or is it sealed?

The doors are pretty secure but to be safe I would recommend a cabinet lock for a python.  Lights on top of the screen is perfectly safe.  The top screen is encased in the frame and cannot be opened.  Hppe that helps.

  • Just wondering can the wire slot on the back panel be placed upside down (it's at the bottom instead of the top for thermostat probes)? And how do we install heat mats in this type of enclosure?

Yes you can install the wire slot either way.  As for mats you would attach them to the bottom the same way you would any other enclosure.  We use self adhesive mats and then add additional tape to keep them in place.  Hope that helps.

  • Will this tank be safe for my breaded dragon if it keeps humidity?

This enclosure allows for any humidity level.  It does not produce humidity so it will be great for bearded dragons.

  • Do the sliding doors latch, or are they impossible for a snake to push them open?

We have not any reported instances of a snake escape.  However if you wish you could use a cabinet lock to secure the doors.

  • Can a radiant heat panel be installed in this enclosure?

Yes it can.  The PVC panels can handle heat upto 285 degrees.  :-)

  • What is you expected shipping date if order in August 2019? You are currently out of stock and accepting orders.

We will be shipping in mid-September.

  • I already have the wood enclosure but really needed the extra humidity resistance. Will the PVC panels be available for individual sale?

They aren't yet available however go to you local hardware store and find a thin piece of acrylic and cut to size.  Would be cheaper than paying for shipping.  Ours are 22x36 inches.

  • Will you be making a vertical habitat for arboreal species?

We are working on a 4x2x4 and a 2x2x4 which we hope to have available early next year.

  • Can you use an under tank heater with these terrariums?

For our enclosures with the High Humidity (PVC) panels, yes you can use UTH.  Please let us know if you have any other quesitons.

  • What makes these panels ideal for high humidity? Are they different material? Or is it an added panel on top? If it is a panel on top, is there space for heating/light fixtures?

These panels are made from PVC material but made to look like bamboo.  This allows the humidity to go as high as you need for your reptile.  We also include an extra panel for the top of the enclosure that will help you keep in the humidity levels.  There is a space for external lighting and as always you can place your lights internally as well.  Please let us know if you have any other questions.

  • Hi, I was wondering if it would be possible to use this terrarium to make bioactive vivarium setup with?

Yes, this would be a great fit for bio-active vivariums.  I would suggest sealing the bottom where the panels meet the frame so no water seems out just in case.  Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
