The 4'x2'x4' PVC Panel Reptile Enclosure by Zen Habitats great for lizards, snakes, and other small arboreal animals that require low to high humidity environments. Zen Habitats Reptile Enclosure uses 1” anodized aluminum, bamboo printed PVC panels, front sliding/removable acrylic doors, a galvanized steel screen top, additional top humidity shield to retain humidity, and a 12" substrate shield (either acrylic or steel screen - for increased ventilation). The steel screen top includes screen support bars and wire grommets to give you the flexibility to install your lighting fixtures inside or outside the enclosure.
Why the 4’x2’x4’ Zen Habitats Reptile Enclosures?
Large enclosures – 240-gallon equivalent. Many reptiles thrive when given room to run, jump, and climb.
Non-reflective surfaces reduce anxiety. Most reptiles are territorial and do not like their own reflections.
Front-sliding doors minimize stress when approaching your pet. Many reptiles and amphibians have a parietal eye which helps them spot aerial predators. A lot of reptile tanks open from the top - approaching from above can cause stress for your pet.
Bamboo printed composite PVC panels for up to 100% humidity. Allows for a high humidity environment without the disadvantages of glass aquariums.
Humidity Shield helps retain humidity while providing ventilation. Optional 36" sheet of acrylic that lays on top of the screen to help control humidity.
Substrate Shield included. Choose between acrylic or screen shield. Screen shield is for increased ventilation.

Zen has outdone the rest! This cage was the perfect solution for my Argentine B&W Tegu! She loves it so much. The price, quality, ease of assembly all get a 10 for me! Not to mention their customer service is on top of it!
Great tank planing on getting more
We love our tank!
Our only possibly complaint is that we have a bearded dragon who loves to glass duel, which is scuffing up the front panel a bit but is a worth trade off from glass as it is not so reflective.
Maybe you could offer replacement substrate shields on your largest sized tank? ;)
I made them slightly more secure using self tapping screws on select joints on the sides and back. Our frilled dragon is loving it.
This is my second Zen Habitats enclosure I’ve purchased. First was for a ball, this one was for a Boa I adopted. I love the space and that it allows enough room for him to climb. It’s giving him some good Physical Therapy for the muscle loss in his tail (previous owner surrendered him due to lack of knowledge of species). I can’t wait for Zen to release the expansion kit for the 4x2x4! So when he gets bigger I can have him in a 8 foot enclosure. I’ve had lots of enclosures for many reptiles over the years and Zen Habitats by far has been the best. Their enclosures are top quality materials and their customer service is great. I would recommend any reptile owner to shop Zen!
Had an amazing experience overall with this company. The customer service was excellent and I received the enclosure quick as well. The enclosure itself is amazing and was a breeze to put together. I customized mine with a diy background, ledges and bamboo perches. My carpet python Jack is going to love his new enclosure!
My Bearded Dragon loves this new enclosure. However so does my son. He kept pushing/shoving/moving the enclosure and the press fittings became loose which caused the enclosure to come apart very easily. To fix I just secured all joints with self tapping screws. Problem solved.
Great great great!!!!
This Zen Enclosure came with some challenges but after speaking with customer service we were able to iron things out and needless to say i am very happy and satisfied with this enclosure and cabinet and i put my own touch on it and Draga loves it lots of room and chill spots , will add a few plants and some decor for the back wall and then its complete!
Great cage! Easy to access and very sturdy.
The shipment was super fast and very easy to assemble. We love our zen habitat enclosure and so does our Chinese water dragon.
Love my Zen Habitat! I've had it for about a year now. Admittedly I probably put more weight inside than I should, but it has held up amazingly so far. No bowing of the panels, even the underside. My crazy setup is for a bunch of hermit crabs, and they love the space! Holds humidity very well, if you have the entire wire mesh top covered. Took quite a bit of hammering away with the rubber mallet to get it together, but it is sturdy so no complaints. Honestly debating on getting a second one because I just can't seem to stop adding decor.
Setup was fairly easy. The humidity shield is amazing and my water babies love it!
The habitat was easy to build following the you tube video. Once built it would not keep square. I had to use 1/2” self tapping screws on all corners of the corner pieces. Once that was done it’s solid as a rock. Doors hang true now. My beardie LOVES all the room he has. I would recommend this habitat to anybody who asks me. (You should include self tapping screws)
It’s easy to clean with great front access which stresses him out way less then coming from above him. Overall we are Both happy with our purchase Thanks Zen Habitats!!!!!
I had a hard time building it but love the finished thing. I better do slightly better on the snake 1
Very nice enclosure. Easy to put together. Looks great !
The staff is awesome we had issues with our cage and they fixed quickly with no questions asked I was greatly surprised
Waiting 4 months still just have 2 package delivered my lizard don't have place to live thanks so much for taking for ever
My son is very satisfied with the enclosure..It was the lack of communication and it taking 3 months to get the enclosure.. Thank You!
A horrible experience from day one. Both items were on backorder for three months. The stand was easy. I had to wait another week for the enclosure that came pretty banged up. 3 parts were damaged during assembly, and Zen offered to send replacement parts Two weeks later? Two weeks! One part came, via Nevada and California. I called the company again who said they would send the missing parts asap. 3 days later they came and the enclosure was assembled. Although apologies were given, I feel I should've been offered some compensation for all the issues. Just a mess.
The finished product is decent. I am not a huge fan of the acrylic doors as they scuff quite easily. I do like the the different and easy options for setting up lighting. Most UVB bulbs have very little range, so being able to put them inside the enclosure easily was a bonus. The doors to the cabinet beneath (also from Zen Habitats) became difficult to open and close once the enclosure was put on top. There seemed to be some significant inconsistencies to the part sizes. Some pieces went together with just my hands or the tap of the rubber mallet, other parts felt like I was trying to beat them to death with the mallet until my hands started to go numb. None of the pieces broke during construction, which says something about how sturdy they are. Snorri, my Chinese Water Dragon, seems healthy and happy and that is what matters in the end.
My Chinese water dragon and I absolutely LOVE her zen. She has never ever looked happier, this enclosure is absolutely massive! It was well worth the wait and everything arrived in perfect condition! We have been searching, and searching for a habitat that my baby girl could thrive in but for the size she needed, it was incredibly hard to find anything even relatively close to what we needed and sure enough we stumbled across this! My girl requires very high humidity, and with her old enclosure it was such a challenge to keep it up even with the humidifier. Well, not anymore! this enclosure holds the humidity perfectly, the mat that goes with it seems so much more comfortable for her than Petstore bought ones. It is super easy to put together, and looks beautiful when it is! If you have an arboreal critter I highly recommend this enclosure as it stands at 4 ft tall. If I could give this enclosure and company 10 stars I would. It was a long wait, but it was far more than worth it, thank you Zen Habits!
This is my fully bioactive Dumeril's Boa habitat. It has held very well especially after adding and sealing with the bio basin. My baby Dumeril's went from a 20 gallon tub that I rescued him in to this beautiful self sustaining environment. He has come out of his shell 100% and has resumed normal eating patterns. It is imperative that reptiles can live and grow in an environment that closely resembles their home in the wild. Zen Habitats has helped me achieve this and much more!
Came the day after I ordered it! I decided to go the bioactive rout for my chameleon and this cage. I sealed the bottom with flex seal and silicone then added a drain hole since I’ll be using a mist king multiple times a day! I also purchased the zen habitats stand and love it! The build probably weighs over 300lbs so I added wheels to the bottom and It works perfectly when I need to move it! I’d highly recommend a zen habitats enclosure!
Josie (Ball Python) loves her new Zen Habitat.
Our beardie “Tasha” loves her new home. We added a background and climbing features.
It was a great size and very easy to fit together. Very happy with my purchase.
I'm in love! I've been on the hunt for a larger tank for my old BCI for the longest time that didn't break the bank. Like, it's been a couple years and I dont have the space or know how to make a custom tank myself so this was perfect!
It's easy to set up, much more lightweight than I thought it was going to be, and sturdy! The humidity shield is an awesome bonus. I can't stop looking at the set up.
Another thing that I love is that if I ever move and need to transport the whole thing it can easily be taken apart and made flat again.
My old girl has become more active and seems so much more happy. Now thats what I'm talking about!
Love it ! Easy to put together . Had a bit of trouble with one side . Jane worked with me and helped me out . Thank you for a great product and support . I also ordered a spacer .
Not fan of the product , some items were damaged when I received it .
Inconsistent with quality and instructions. For example on your YouTube there was instructions saying there will be stickers on the boards or metal stands and mine didn’t have that. Also your framing had scratches and the stickers that had I still have hard time removing the glue from it . It’s not sturdy and some corners did not fit tight . In my opinion it’s not worth it and to be honest I will upgrade to better product for my tree monitor.
Great product . Easy to put together . I also just purchased the spacer
First Tank came damaged. Requested replacement parts. I waited a little over 2 weeks for replacement parts. Was told once by a Representative and once by a Manager that parts would be sent out the next day within that two week period. Finally I got tired of waiting and ordered a new tank and sent the old one back. Second Tank came damaged too but not as bad as the first so we kept it. The tank looks awesome put together. Only thing I'm upset about is customer service. A discount would have been nice!
Plenty of room for my snake.
The enclosures is awesome and I would love to give it a five star review but when I received the package it was torn to shreds. Holes in multiple places. Luckily all the pieces were there and building it was easy.
Love it . So beautiful . My chameleon , curly, can go higher . We both love it. Thank you zen habitats. I saw somebody in pet co trying to buy an aquarium and I recommended this enclosure to them.
Absolutely amazing. My water dragon is very happy. I did a full on bio active setup and it is holding up nicely. I do have to say when I got it the box it was in was very very damaged. There were holes and drips everywhere. Lucky the enclouser its self was in great shape. Would definitely recommend and would buy from this company again.
Our water dragon, Eragon absolutely love his zen habitat as do we! We are definitely thinking of order some more for some of the other reptiles we own.
I have the 4*2*4 enclosure for my crested gecko females, and another one for my chameleon. I love them both so much. I feel better connected to my geckos because they are more visible and I can enjoy them easier! My chameleon has had a complete personality change since going into his Zen Habitat. He loves to come out, let’s me handle him, and is much more active within his cage.
The doors are awesome and accessible and the cage holds humidity so well! I can’t say enough about these cages
The enclosure looks great and was fairly easy to put together. Great addition for our growing reptile family.
Quick shipping and great customer service.
Wow it is so cool. My ball python is so happy and climbing vines all night. I put a real plant and it’s her favorite place to bask. I would have loved to have had paper instructions included. I put a piece backwards and wasn’t able to fix it but everything works absolutely fine. The bottom front can either be a screen or the plexiglass (both are included). I fed a repti fogger humidifier hose through the cord opening and it works perfectly! Great quality materials. Thank you!
I love this cage they look amazing and ship remote. The doors with mine bowed with this one outward so they had a gap for my snake to escape, and with my bearded dragons they bowed inward and scratch each other. They are getting this all fixed though but when you buy this it would be a good idea to get the little felt stickers to put where they would rub to prevent this from ever scratching and for the bowing outward Zen has a solution to fix this so I am sure this wont be a thing for long.
Does not disappoint!
I purchased the 4x4x2 with bio active bag base, for my juvenile Chinese water dragon. I can fully attest to the effectiveness of the humidity shield, which I had my doubts about. With the bio active tropical base and planted Bella palms, the humidity at the middle and bottom of the covered side stays around 99%. I am really happy about this cause I wasn’t sure how to provide the 80% required for him, and the enclosure really supports high humidity. I also treated the back and sides with glue and coco fiber, and the pvc panels were easy to work with. I chose to treat them before assembling, and it got a bit messy but that was just a minor inconvenience. The size of the enclosure supports a 90 to 75 gradient from the hot upper side to the diagonally lower end with an 80W power sun bulb in a wire clamp. I add an extra uvb light to the other side. The bottom nicely houses an 18” water tray with a filter - you could easily add a whole other tank if you animal needs it, and there is still plenty of room for him to move around. The usefulness of the hanging bars is extensive - they support lights, branches, vines, and hanging plants. I have used those to hang extra branches for his exercise and enrichment. A couple of tips: during assembly, I used a metal file to whittle the plastic pieces slightly, since I am not as strong as the guy in the video, and that helped a bit. I definitely needed a mallet, and also used it to disassemble the pieces when I made a mistake. I used pebble chips in the bio bag, which I believe may have punctured it, because it leaked a little after assembly. If you use the round ones, that probably won’t happen. The leaking stopped and is no longer a problem. Super happy with this great product, highly recommend.
My daughter just informed me my package arrived which I was very happy to hear.....that is until I seen the pictures she sent. Now I'm nervously waiting for my work day to be over and get home to check if the enclosure is actually in good usable condition.
I have a bit of an unsual occupant for my Zen Habitat! This enclosure was the only thing I could find on the market that fit the criteria I was seeking for my pet European Starling. He's a little unsure of it yet, but I'm hopeful it will feel like his home to him soon enough.
My only complaint is that both front side support bars are labelled "Top Left/Right Side Door Frame" and I figured that meant they were identical. They were not, and I realized only after they were stuck firmly in place.
Got this tank for my king snake, Miss Hiss. She loves it! It’s massive so she all the room she needs to slither around and it was so easy to put together, my husband had it set up in under an hour using only a rubber mallet as I’ve seen other reviews recommend. It’s sturdy and I know my snake friend will live a happy life in it for years to come.
Love it so far!! Super easy to setup and clean
The cage was very easy to put together and it looks AWESOME. I can't wait to decorate it!
They Love It
It was easy to build and i do like it BUT... The cage provides only one viewing angle and thats from the front. The back and sides are the non transparent wood panels and it looked very confining and frankly weird in a room setting. If your sitting off to the side and want to view your pet you got to go to the front so... i went to a plastics shop and had them cut (2), 1/4" clear Polycarb 22"x46" side panels and it made all the world of difference. The cage looks so much more appealing from the outside and i could tell my Iguana enjoyed seeing more of whats going on than from just the front.
I'm very happy with how the habitat turned out. The way it's designed allowed me to customize and add certain things I wanted easily. It's also the perfect size upgrade for my jungle carpet python.
I love it all, except I was pretty bummed that the pictures of the product showed a cabinet built in underneath the tank.......It didn't come with that part! I was pissed. False advertising is how i feel. Especially for the price of this tank/cage! Thats really the whole reason I bought it was because of the storage space underneath. If I would have known this, I would have just built a custom cage myself like I was originally gonna do. So in the end I still had to purchase wood and materials to build a stand!
I purchased this enclosure for my juvenile Chinese Water Dragon. It arrived safe and spund five days later. I only have two complaints: the first is that the space between the two sliding glass doors are a little difficult to properly clean. I feel that the gap could be mad smaller, but that's just a little nitpick. The second complaint is that the video instructions were very blurry, making it difficult to follow. As a result, I ended up placing the connection pieces for the substrate shield incorrectly. And when I tried to hammer them back out, they snapped. But overall I see these enclosures as the best in the market, and will be purchasing more in the future. Thank you, Zen Habitats!
Definitely worth the money I think, especially for the type of material and if you have a large reptile, especially if it's a snake. I took 1 star off just to be honest because there are a few things I have to say, but still a worthy purchase.
First, a little background info. I have a an African Ball Python, she's roughly 50" and going on 6 years old. Before getting a new enclosure, she was in a 40 gallon glass enclosure, which was small for her, hard for me to keep clean, and it just didn't seem right for her in general. Her eating habits were 2 adult mice a month(live or thawed), sheds were sporadic, widely unpredictable, and was never a full shed due to the grates and it being difficult to retain humidity. Now though!?
She's almost a completely different snake, and for the better! She eats 1 mouse every weekend, she explores/destroys her enclosure nightly because she can fully stretch out. I only have to turn on her humidifier occasionally, 2-3 times a week to keep it around 70%(which is what she likes)instead of leaving it on for hours every day. Obviously a HUGE improvement with this enclosure!
However, that being said, I was a little disappointed in the overall packaging(I know Alaska is far away), one of the aluminum supports had a dent and half of the pvc panels had the same corner edge curled/bent. I know I'm nitpicking a little, but my $300 computer desk came in better packaging than this enclosure. Perhaps invest in more firm packing because it was mostly light duty packing material used and these pvc panels shipped together are awfully heavy. Food for thought ♂️ Also, you guys need a new camera for your assembly videos because those were pretty difficult to follow, not your fault, but I misplaced one of the pvc corners during installation and they dont come back out once they're hammered in, so i had to jimmy rig one corner of the enclosure. Lastly, I found a near identical enclosure from Custom Reptile Habitats that comes with rubber gaskets to fill the gaps in between the aluminum frames and the pvc panels and they also provide silicone tubes to further seal their enclosures. Perhaps you guys could take notes for future development or upgrades? ♂️ That's the end of my nitpicking.
I really do love it! Especially with the matching cabinet underneath it, it's gorgeous! Everything functions wonderfully! Precious doesn't complain at all ❤ If you want better pictures later on, I'll see what I can do, I'm not a photographer though.
I love the fact that it was super huge but also very lightweight. Also, for people concerned of these not holding enough weight I have almost 12 inch of substrate in this and on the bottom not even bowing. It hold heat and humidity much better compared to regular glass and definitely looks very nice with the bamboo printed pvc. Will definitely buy again for future reptiles.
perfect for arboreal Reptiles! Thanks Zen Habitats!
absolutely amazing my dominican red mountain boa loves his forever home he climbs to the top for some heat to chill then to the bottom were he goes all over in and out of his hides. I really like how it all came together thank you guys at zen habitats I'm definitely going to be getting more products from you in the future.
This cage is beautiful! It came with a lot of additional parts to make it as well circulated or humid as you need, and the craftsmanship is beautiful. I love how clean it looks as the centerpiece of my house.
Love this cage! So much room. I built a shelf to give our beardie even more climbing/floor space. The viv itself looks amazing and is easy to put together...just follow the video and you should be good! Definitely will need the rubber mallet though. Some corner pieces seem to slide right into the metal frame but others you have to put some force behind. As I saw somewhere else, the plexiglass doors do scratch pretty easy, but def not a deal breaker. Also, sorry about the darkness in the bottom right of my photo - getting a smaller light for under my shelf later this week. My pic also shows the viv on top of the Zen Habitats stand (with the right side door slid open). We love it (beardie included)! Also, beardie in photo is about 4.5 months old/12.5 inches long for reference.
It was fairly easy to assemble and has awesome features to keep a great environment for all types of pets.
Great tank! It is enormous, and assembly is pretty easy. Just requires a good amount of banging to get the pieces together, though I'm glad because all of the joints are nice and tight. I have moist substrate and need high himidity, so I sealed all of the panel lines with silicone before using. That is the only tidbit that some people may need to consider, and it is a very easy fix.
Great price for the size of this enclosure. Can't wait for the extension kit to be made to make it even bigger . Great buy, absolutely love it!!!!!
A great enclosure for my ball python. Easy to assemble and looking great. Excellent service and support, fast and friendly. The large size shows problems with the doors closing well enough where they overlap. At this point I would not recommend it for thinner snakes that love to escape such as corn snakes or milk snakes. But for a python it is just fine.
I am absolutely in love with this enclosure i couldn't have found anything better than this enclosure it is so beautiful, I absolutely love every little detail its also made extremely welland extremely durable & u can tell u guys put your heart and soul into making these amazing enclosures for all of our animals and im so glad i made the purchase!!
It’s an excellent enclosure and just massive. Zen Habitats has great prices, speed of delivery, and responsive customer service. The enclosure was easy enough to put together, but a pain to take apart if you make a mistake. The enclosure is sturdy and holds heat/humidity well. The seams must be sealed (I used 100% silicone) in order to make the enclosure bioactive.
