The 48"x24"x16" PVC Panel Ball Python Enclosure by Zen Habitats is great for skinks, lizards, snakes, tortoises, and other small animals that require a low to high humidity environment. Zen Habitats Reptile Enclosure uses 1” anodized aluminum, bamboo printed PVC panels, front sliding/removable acrylic doors, a galvanized steel screen top, additional top humidity shield to retain humidity, and a 6" substrate shield (to keep loose substrate in the habitat when the door is open). The steel screen top includes screen support bars and wire grommets to give you the flexibility to install your lighting fixtures inside or outside the enclosure.
Why the 48"x24"x16" Zen Habitats Ball Python Enclosure?
Large enclosures – 80-gallon equivalent. Many reptiles thrive when given room to run, jump, and climb. 48"x24"x16" reptile enclosures are twice as larger than 40 gallon breeder tanks.
Non-reflective surfaces reduce anxiety. Most reptiles are territorial and do not like their own reflections.
Front-sliding doors minimize stress when approaching your pet. Many reptiles and amphibians have a parietal eye which helps them spot aerial predators. A lot of reptile tanks open from the top - approaching from above can cause stress for your pet.
Bamboo printed composite PVC panels for up to 100% humidity. Allows for a high humidity environment without the disadvantages of glass aquariums.
Humidity Shield helps retain humidity while providing ventilation. Optional 36" sheet of acrylic that lays on top of the screen to help control humidity.
Substrate Shield included. All Zen Habitats come with an optional substrate shield for those who use loose substrate.
Everything was perfect until my snake escaped and got scratched up very badly. There is a large hole in the back for cords, which I need to ensure the right temperatures and humidity levels. This hole is huge and my snake was determined to get through it.
If the design had a smaller hole, it would be worth the money.
Unfortunately, I had to fashion a small crack between the door and the railing to maneuver the cords through so I could close the hole up. I tried putting cardboard behind the hole to make it impossible for him to get through but he still managed to get through it.
I love the enclosure and already threw away the box, so I can’t exactly return the item. So now I’m stuck with it. Hopefully my plan with the new cord area works :/ Severely disappointed.
Shipping was faster than I expected which was nice. Assembly was easy with the videos that show step by step how to assembly. The enclosure is beautiful and perfect for our ball python. Zen Habitats will be my go to for reptile enclosures from now on!
What is the main purpose of a reptile enclosure? To enclose the reptile.
After seeing all of the fantastic reviews I decided to purchase the Zen Habitats 48"x24"x16" PVC enclosure. I messaged a customer service representative to confirm this enclosure would work well for a corn snake (I did eventually find one review stating that their cornsnake had escaped through the front door gap). The customer service representative said that the gap was only an issue on the larger version, and this version was nice and tight fitting and would work well for a cornsnake. Guess what? My 3 foot long 220 gram cornsnake has escaped not once, but twice from the center gap shown in the picture. Luckily I noticed almost immediately the first escape and stuffed folded paper between the gap as shown in the picture. However, two nights ago my cornsnakw pushed away the paper and once again escaped. I frantically searched the house for 11 hours, called out of work and thankfully found her. I had to create a more sturdy barrier between the two front doors which nobody should have to do when spending $350 on a snake tank. The only reason I wouldn't give one star is because the tank is visually appealing, although I would NOT recommend for any slender breed of snake. A sharpie marker can fairly easily fit through the gap of the front doors.
I love everything about it. Easy to set up and beautiful to look at. Thank you!
Overall very happy with this purchase. Looks both very beautiful and it is very functional. The back port allows for me to run a humidity pump into the tank, keeping it right at the 55% humidity I’m looking for.
It is on the expensive side, but if you want a forever home for your reptile then this is it.
I see a lot of people talk about assembly... highly advise you watch the video setup tutorial. Took about 45 min to assemble.
Zen habitats knocked it out of the park! I love this enclosure and so does my ball python! Easy to put together, sturdy and amazingly roomy, my bp will love slinking around in all this new space.
Super easy to put together, the snake loves it!
I have not even ordered my tank yet and I still had a few questions so I contacted them and with in 50 seconds I had my answer!! I am pleased with how quickly they anwsered and compared to other websites I may not receive an answer for a week sometimes I just don't get one at all!!. Any way, even when I do get my tank and even if it isn't the one for me personally I still highly recommend this.
Purchased this for my blue tongue skink back in September. It's been absolutely perfect! The pvc sides allow for the humidity he needs, the substrate shield keeps all of his mulch neatly inside. I love that it has a screen top that allows me to set my lights on top instead of mounting inside. Overall, very pleased with the product and I would happily recommend it to anyone.
