The Gold Infrared lamp gets its name from the golden sheen on the bulb when the unit is off; when the unit is switched on, the bulb gives off a dim red glow. The Reptile Systems Gold Infrared Basking lamp is available in 2 different wattages for a wide range of uses: 50W & 100W. The unit should always be hooked up to a dimmer or dimming thermostat to dial in the ideal basking temperature for your reptile precisely. 

Replacement bulbs are available separately. Remember to never touch the bulb with bare hands to avoid oils from your fingers getting on the bulb, which can severely shorten the lifespan or cause premature failure from uneven heating.
