Ball pythons need a thermal gradient, not a single temperature. A 95-104°F basking surface (measured with an infrared temp gun), an 86-90°F warm hide, and a 72-80°F cool side, with a natural nightly drop to 70-78°F. All heat sources should be controlled by thermostat. Ball pythons don't require UVB to survive, but a low-output 5-6% T5 tube is recommended for welfare since it supports natural basking behavior and vitamin D3 synthesis. Check UV output from bulbs every 6 months as UV output fades before the bulb visibly burns out. A separate 6000-7000K full-spectrum LED can support plant growth in planted and bioactive enclosures, and provide overall lighting quality. Full spectrum LED does not replace the UVB tube.
