Habitats for Heroes Official Rules

Last updated: October 1, 2026

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO NOMINATE OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF BEING SELECTED. OPEN ONLY TO NOMINATORS WHO ARE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER AND TO ELIGIBLE SCHOOLS AND NONPROFIT ANIMAL RESCUES LOCATED IN THE 48 CONTIGUOUS UNITED STATES AND THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

1. Sponsor

Habitats for Heroes (the "Program") is sponsored by ZenPro Pets, LLC, doing business as Zen Habitats, 485 Nantasket Ave, Suite A, Hull, MA 02045 ("Sponsor"). Questions about the Program may be sent to support@zenpropets.com.

2. How the Program works

Each month, Sponsor may award one free reptile enclosure setup to an eligible school (on behalf of a nominated teacher) or an eligible animal rescue organization, selected by Sponsor from the nominations it receives. Recipients are chosen by Sponsor at its discretion as described in Section 7. The Program is not a game of chance, and no random drawing is held.

3. Program period

The Program begins on October 1, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time ("ET") and continues until Sponsor ends it. Sponsor will post notice on the Program page at least thirty (30) days before the Program ends, except as provided in Section 12.

Recipients are selected in selection periods ("Monthly Periods"). The first Monthly Period runs from October 1, 2026 at 12:00:00 a.m. ET through November 30, 2026 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET, and the first recipient will be selected from nominations received during that period. Beginning December 1, 2026, each Monthly Period begins at 12:00:00 a.m. ET on the first day of a calendar month and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. ET on the last day of that month. Sponsor's computer is the official clock for the Program.

4. Eligibility

4.1 Nominators

Nominations may be submitted by individuals who are 18 years of age or older at the time of submission and who are legal residents of the 48 contiguous United States or the District of Columbia ("Nominators"). Teachers and rescue representatives may nominate themselves or their own organizations.

4.2 Eligible nominees

  • Teachers. A teacher who is currently employed by an accredited public, charter, or private educational institution located in the 48 contiguous United States or the District of Columbia that is eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions under Section 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code, either as a governmental unit described in Section 170(c)(1) (such as a public school or public school district) or as an organization recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) (such as a private or nonprofit charter school) (an "Eligible School"). A nominated teacher must personally accept the nomination before any Prize is awarded.
  • Animal rescues. An animal rescue organization of any kind (it need not be reptile-focused) that is recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is located in the 48 contiguous United States or the District of Columbia (an "Eligible Rescue").

Eligible Schools and Eligible Rescues are each an "Eligible Institution." The Prize is awarded to the Eligible Institution, not to any individual. See Section 8.

4.3 Who is not eligible

Employees, officers, directors, and agents of Sponsor, of Peregrine Livefoods, and of their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, and advertising and promotion agencies, and the immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling, and their respective spouses) and household members of each, may not nominate or be nominated.

Sponsor's content creators, brand ambassadors, and wholesale partners (including their owners and employees) may submit nominations but are not eligible to be nominated or to receive a Prize, and neither are Eligible Institutions they own or operate.

4.4 Past recipients

A teacher, Eligible School, or Eligible Rescue that receives a Prize is not eligible to receive another Prize for twelve (12) months after the date the Prize is awarded.

5. How to nominate

To nominate, complete the online nomination form at zenhabitats.com/pages/habitats-for-heroes. All required fields must be completed, and the Nominator must confirm that they are 18 or older, that the nominee is aware of and agrees to the nomination (when nominating someone other than themselves), and that they agree to these Official Rules.

  • Nominator limit: each Nominator may submit no more than one (1) teacher nomination and one (1) rescue nomination per calendar month (ET). Nominations exceeding this limit will not be accepted.
  • Multiple nominations for the same nominee: a teacher or rescue may receive any number of nominations from different Nominators. The number of nominations a nominee receives does not influence Sponsor's selection.
  • Nominations submitted by automated means, by anyone other than the Nominator, or that are incomplete, false, or otherwise do not comply with these Official Rules are void.
  • Sponsor is not responsible for nominations that are lost, late, misdirected, incomplete, or not received because of technical problems of any kind. Confirmation of submission is not proof of receipt or eligibility.

By submitting a nomination, the Nominator represents that the information provided is true and accurate, that they have the right to share any information and photos they submit, and that the nominee has agreed to be nominated.

6. How long nominations stay active

A nomination that is not selected may remain under consideration for up to six (6) months after it is submitted, at Sponsor's discretion. After that, a new nomination must be submitted for the nominee to be considered again. Nominations may be submitted at any time, regardless of which category Sponsor is focusing on in a given month.

7. Selection of recipients

Sponsor selects recipients at its sole discretion. Sponsor decides each month whether to select a teacher or an animal rescue, may select from the same category in consecutive months (for example, selecting rescues during summer months when schools are out of session), and is not obligated to select a recipient in any Monthly Period.

In making its selection, Sponsor may consider factors including, without limitation, the nominee's need, the expected impact on students or animals, the nominee's readiness to provide appropriate animal care, and the information provided in the nomination. These factors are not scored or weighted, and Sponsor may select any eligible nominee it chooses. Sponsor's decisions are final and binding.

8. The Prize

Each Prize consists of one (1) reptile enclosure setup, which includes a Zen Habitats enclosure and lighting, heating, and decor items selected by Sponsor (the "Prize"). The enclosure will be no larger than 4' x 2' x 4' (length x depth x height); available sizes are determined by Sponsor. Approximate retail value of each Prize: up to $1,000 USD. Actual value depends on the items provided, and any difference between the approximate and actual value will not be awarded. Live animals are not included.

  • The Prize is awarded to the Eligible Institution. A teacher accepts the Prize on behalf of their Eligible School.
  • The Prize ships free of charge to a single address in the 48 contiguous United States or the District of Columbia. The recipient is responsible for assembly.
  • No cash or other alternative will be provided. The Prize may not be transferred or exchanged. Sponsor may substitute any item with an item of equal or greater value at its discretion.
  • The recipient is solely responsible for complying with its own policies and obtaining any approvals required to keep animals or equipment on its premises, including any school or district approval for classroom animals. Sponsor does not verify these approvals.
  • Any applicable taxes are the responsibility of the recipient. Prize items are covered only by their standard manufacturer warranties.

9. Notification and verification

Selected recipients will be notified by email and/or phone using the contact information provided in the nomination. Within seven (7) days of notification, the selected teacher or rescue representative must respond and provide:

  • acceptance of the nomination and the Prize (for teachers, personal acceptance by the nominated teacher);
  • the legal name of the Eligible Institution and proof of its eligibility: for public schools, the school or district name and its federal EIN or NCES school ID; for private schools, nonprofit charter schools, and rescues, an IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter or an EIN that can be verified with the IRS;
  • a shipping address in the 48 contiguous United States or the District of Columbia; and
  • if requested, a signed declaration of eligibility and publicity release.

If a selected recipient cannot be reached, does not respond within seven (7) days, cannot provide the required information, or is found to be ineligible, the Prize may be forfeited and Sponsor may select another recipient or none at all.

10. Publicity and use of submitted content

Except where prohibited by law, by accepting a Prize the recipient and the accepting teacher or representative grant Sponsor the right to use their names, the name of the Eligible Institution, its city and state, photographs, likenesses, and statements for advertising, promotion, and publicity in any media, without further compensation, notice, or approval.

By submitting a nomination, the Nominator grants Sponsor a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, edit, and publish the nomination content and any submitted photos in connection with the Program and Sponsor's marketing. Sponsor will not publish images in which students can be identified without written consent from the school or a parent or guardian.

11. Privacy

Information collected through the Program is used to administer the Program and is subject to Sponsor's Privacy Policy. Sponsor will send marketing emails only to Nominators who opt in. Sponsor may retain nomination information at its discretion.

12. General conditions

Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any person or nomination that it finds to be tampering with the Program, acting fraudulently, or violating these Official Rules. If the Program cannot run as planned because of fraud, technical failure, or any other cause beyond Sponsor's reasonable control, Sponsor may cancel, modify, or suspend the Program without the thirty (30) day notice described in Section 3. Sponsor may update these Official Rules at any time by posting the updated version on the Program page. Sponsor's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules is not a waiver of that term.

13. Release and limitation of liability

By participating, Nominators, nominees, and recipients agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor, Peregrine Livefoods, and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents (the "Released Parties") from any and all claims, losses, or damages of any kind arising from participation in the Program or from the acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any Prize, including the care of any animal housed in a Prize. The Released Parties are not responsible for technical errors, incorrect or inaccurate information, or any problems with the nomination form, website, or email delivery.

14. Disputes and governing law

These Official Rules and the Program are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to the Program shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts.

15. Social media

The Program is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram, Facebook, Meta Platforms, Inc., or any other social media platform. Participants release these platforms from any liability related to the Program.

16. Recipients list

Recipients may be announced on the Program page and on Sponsor's social media channels. To request the names of recipients for a given Monthly Period, email support@zenpropets.com with the subject "Habitats for Heroes Recipients" within sixty (60) days after the end of that Monthly Period.
