The 4'x2'x4' PVC Panel Reptile Enclosure by Zen Habitats great for lizards, snakes, and other small arboreal animals that require low to high humidity environments. Zen Habitats Reptile Enclosure uses 1” anodized aluminum, bamboo printed PVC panels, front sliding/removable acrylic doors, a galvanized steel screen top, additional top humidity shield to retain humidity, and a 12" substrate shield (either acrylic or steel screen - for increased ventilation). The steel screen top includes screen support bars and wire grommets to give you the flexibility to install your lighting fixtures inside or outside the enclosure.
Why the 4’x2’x4’ Zen Habitats Reptile Enclosures?
Large enclosures – 240-gallon equivalent. Many reptiles thrive when given room to run, jump, and climb.
Non-reflective surfaces reduce anxiety. Most reptiles are territorial and do not like their own reflections.
Front-sliding doors minimize stress when approaching your pet. Many reptiles and amphibians have a parietal eye which helps them spot aerial predators. A lot of reptile tanks open from the top - approaching from above can cause stress for your pet.
Bamboo printed composite PVC panels for up to 100% humidity. Allows for a high humidity environment without the disadvantages of glass aquariums.
Humidity Shield helps retain humidity while providing ventilation. Optional 36" sheet of acrylic that lays on top of the screen to help control humidity.
Substrate Shield included. Choose between acrylic or screen shield. Screen shield is for increased ventilation.
Easy to assemble – A rubber mallet sometimes helps.
Other Arboreal or Semi-Arboreal species

Does not disappoint!
I purchased the 4x4x2 with bio active bag base, for my juvenile Chinese water dragon. I can fully attest to the effectiveness of the humidity shield, which I had my doubts about. With the bio active tropical base and planted Bella palms, the humidity at the middle and bottom of the covered side stays around 99%. I am really happy about this cause I wasn’t sure how to provide the 80% required for him, and the enclosure really supports high humidity. I also treated the back and sides with glue and coco fiber, and the pvc panels were easy to work with. I chose to treat them before assembling, and it got a bit messy but that was just a minor inconvenience. The size of the enclosure supports a 90 to 75 gradient from the hot upper side to the diagonally lower end with an 80W power sun bulb in a wire clamp. I add an extra uvb light to the other side. The bottom nicely houses an 18” water tray with a filter - you could easily add a whole other tank if you animal needs it, and there is still plenty of room for him to move around. The usefulness of the hanging bars is extensive - they support lights, branches, vines, and hanging plants. I have used those to hang extra branches for his exercise and enrichment. A couple of tips: during assembly, I used a metal file to whittle the plastic pieces slightly, since I am not as strong as the guy in the video, and that helped a bit. I definitely needed a mallet, and also used it to disassemble the pieces when I made a mistake. I used pebble chips in the bio bag, which I believe may have punctured it, because it leaked a little after assembly. If you use the round ones, that probably won’t happen. The leaking stopped and is no longer a problem. Super happy with this great product, highly recommend.
My daughter just informed me my package arrived which I was very happy to hear.....that is until I seen the pictures she sent. Now I'm nervously waiting for my work day to be over and get home to check if the enclosure is actually in good usable condition.
I have a bit of an unsual occupant for my Zen Habitat! This enclosure was the only thing I could find on the market that fit the criteria I was seeking for my pet European Starling. He's a little unsure of it yet, but I'm hopeful it will feel like his home to him soon enough.
My only complaint is that both front side support bars are labelled "Top Left/Right Side Door Frame" and I figured that meant they were identical. They were not, and I realized only after they were stuck firmly in place.
Got this tank for my king snake, Miss Hiss. She loves it! It’s massive so she all the room she needs to slither around and it was so easy to put together, my husband had it set up in under an hour using only a rubber mallet as I’ve seen other reviews recommend. It’s sturdy and I know my snake friend will live a happy life in it for years to come.
Love it so far!! Super easy to setup and clean
The cage was very easy to put together and it looks AWESOME. I can't wait to decorate it!
They Love It
It was easy to build and i do like it BUT... The cage provides only one viewing angle and thats from the front. The back and sides are the non transparent wood panels and it looked very confining and frankly weird in a room setting. If your sitting off to the side and want to view your pet you got to go to the front so... i went to a plastics shop and had them cut (2), 1/4" clear Polycarb 22"x46" side panels and it made all the world of difference. The cage looks so much more appealing from the outside and i could tell my Iguana enjoyed seeing more of whats going on than from just the front.
I'm very happy with how the habitat turned out. The way it's designed allowed me to customize and add certain things I wanted easily. It's also the perfect size upgrade for my jungle carpet python.
I love it all, except I was pretty bummed that the pictures of the product showed a cabinet built in underneath the tank.......It didn't come with that part! I was pissed. False advertising is how i feel. Especially for the price of this tank/cage! Thats really the whole reason I bought it was because of the storage space underneath. If I would have known this, I would have just built a custom cage myself like I was originally gonna do. So in the end I still had to purchase wood and materials to build a stand!
I purchased this enclosure for my juvenile Chinese Water Dragon. It arrived safe and spund five days later. I only have two complaints: the first is that the space between the two sliding glass doors are a little difficult to properly clean. I feel that the gap could be mad smaller, but that's just a little nitpick. The second complaint is that the video instructions were very blurry, making it difficult to follow. As a result, I ended up placing the connection pieces for the substrate shield incorrectly. And when I tried to hammer them back out, they snapped. But overall I see these enclosures as the best in the market, and will be purchasing more in the future. Thank you, Zen Habitats!
Definitely worth the money I think, especially for the type of material and if you have a large reptile, especially if it's a snake. I took 1 star off just to be honest because there are a few things I have to say, but still a worthy purchase.
First, a little background info. I have a an African Ball Python, she's roughly 50" and going on 6 years old. Before getting a new enclosure, she was in a 40 gallon glass enclosure, which was small for her, hard for me to keep clean, and it just didn't seem right for her in general. Her eating habits were 2 adult mice a month(live or thawed), sheds were sporadic, widely unpredictable, and was never a full shed due to the grates and it being difficult to retain humidity. Now though!?
She's almost a completely different snake, and for the better! She eats 1 mouse every weekend, she explores/destroys her enclosure nightly because she can fully stretch out. I only have to turn on her humidifier occasionally, 2-3 times a week to keep it around 70%(which is what she likes)instead of leaving it on for hours every day. Obviously a HUGE improvement with this enclosure!
However, that being said, I was a little disappointed in the overall packaging(I know Alaska is far away), one of the aluminum supports had a dent and half of the pvc panels had the same corner edge curled/bent. I know I'm nitpicking a little, but my $300 computer desk came in better packaging than this enclosure. Perhaps invest in more firm packing because it was mostly light duty packing material used and these pvc panels shipped together are awfully heavy. Food for thought ♂️ Also, you guys need a new camera for your assembly videos because those were pretty difficult to follow, not your fault, but I misplaced one of the pvc corners during installation and they dont come back out once they're hammered in, so i had to jimmy rig one corner of the enclosure. Lastly, I found a near identical enclosure from Custom Reptile Habitats that comes with rubber gaskets to fill the gaps in between the aluminum frames and the pvc panels and they also provide silicone tubes to further seal their enclosures. Perhaps you guys could take notes for future development or upgrades? ♂️ That's the end of my nitpicking.
I really do love it! Especially with the matching cabinet underneath it, it's gorgeous! Everything functions wonderfully! Precious doesn't complain at all ❤ If you want better pictures later on, I'll see what I can do, I'm not a photographer though.
I love the fact that it was super huge but also very lightweight. Also, for people concerned of these not holding enough weight I have almost 12 inch of substrate in this and on the bottom not even bowing. It hold heat and humidity much better compared to regular glass and definitely looks very nice with the bamboo printed pvc. Will definitely buy again for future reptiles.
perfect for arboreal Reptiles! Thanks Zen Habitats!
absolutely amazing my dominican red mountain boa loves his forever home he climbs to the top for some heat to chill then to the bottom were he goes all over in and out of his hides. I really like how it all came together thank you guys at zen habitats I'm definitely going to be getting more products from you in the future.
This cage is beautiful! It came with a lot of additional parts to make it as well circulated or humid as you need, and the craftsmanship is beautiful. I love how clean it looks as the centerpiece of my house.
Love this cage! So much room. I built a shelf to give our beardie even more climbing/floor space. The viv itself looks amazing and is easy to put together...just follow the video and you should be good! Definitely will need the rubber mallet though. Some corner pieces seem to slide right into the metal frame but others you have to put some force behind. As I saw somewhere else, the plexiglass doors do scratch pretty easy, but def not a deal breaker. Also, sorry about the darkness in the bottom right of my photo - getting a smaller light for under my shelf later this week. My pic also shows the viv on top of the Zen Habitats stand (with the right side door slid open). We love it (beardie included)! Also, beardie in photo is about 4.5 months old/12.5 inches long for reference.
It was fairly easy to assemble and has awesome features to keep a great environment for all types of pets.
Great tank! It is enormous, and assembly is pretty easy. Just requires a good amount of banging to get the pieces together, though I'm glad because all of the joints are nice and tight. I have moist substrate and need high himidity, so I sealed all of the panel lines with silicone before using. That is the only tidbit that some people may need to consider, and it is a very easy fix.
Great price for the size of this enclosure. Can't wait for the extension kit to be made to make it even bigger . Great buy, absolutely love it!!!!!
A great enclosure for my ball python. Easy to assemble and looking great. Excellent service and support, fast and friendly. The large size shows problems with the doors closing well enough where they overlap. At this point I would not recommend it for thinner snakes that love to escape such as corn snakes or milk snakes. But for a python it is just fine.
I am absolutely in love with this enclosure i couldn't have found anything better than this enclosure it is so beautiful, I absolutely love every little detail its also made extremely welland extremely durable & u can tell u guys put your heart and soul into making these amazing enclosures for all of our animals and im so glad i made the purchase!!
It’s an excellent enclosure and just massive. Zen Habitats has great prices, speed of delivery, and responsive customer service. The enclosure was easy enough to put together, but a pain to take apart if you make a mistake. The enclosure is sturdy and holds heat/humidity well. The seams must be sealed (I used 100% silicone) in order to make the enclosure bioactive.
